The Benefits
The use of the Pitcher's Biomechanical Trainer in conjunction with the towel drill exercise can help develop, sharpen,
and maintain proper pitching mechanics.
The Trainer is designed for pitchers of all ages,
regardless of experience or size, age or ability. The Trainer can be
adjusted to fit a pitcher's height, from 4'10" to 6'8". A pitcher can learn
and maintain the mechanics of a major league delivery.
The Trainer allows individual pitchers the
opportunity to self-coach during their training practices. The towel
drill has proven to be an invaluable exercise used by professional and
collegiate pitchers. For years Nolan Ryan used the towel drill and
today Mark Prior uses it as well. For personal evaluation, a camera can be
set up facing the pitcher, allowing the pitcher to see, evaluate, and then
make needed adjustments to his mechanics.
Beginning pitchers will learn the correct mechanics.
Use of The Trainer sets up neuro-pathway
programming, (commonly referred to as muscle memory),
that helps the motion of a pitch become second nature. When good
mechanics become second nature it moves the effectiveness of a pitcher to
another level.
Coaches can set up training stations for their
pitchers, allowing for individual assessment of the pitchers as they work.
Having a ready-made bullpen with an always-available catcher is a great
benefit for the team! (Coaches will also appreciate the benefits once their
pitchers are on the mound!)
The Trainer can be used indoors or outdoors,
anytime of day or night, regardless of weather conditions. It is stable
enough for grass or dirt. The Trainer can be set up inside a gym, a garage
or a workout room. It can be used when it is raining or snowing, which makes
it a great training device for places that have inclement weather.
It is a year-round training device for the serious
pitcher!
The Trainer teaches a pitcher to self-correct.
The platform of The Trainer is positioned in such a way that a pitcher can
determine the path of his ball (in this case, his towel) as it is released
toward the target. When a pitcher's towel strikes the platform, the arc of
the motion of his arm is biomechanically on the strike zone target. When he
misses the platform, the pitcher learns to readjust his posture so his next
attempt can be successful. This is a crucial part of a pitcher's arsenal
when he faces batters.
A pitcher who is tune with his body mechanics has
the potential to be more successful than one who is not. Know thyself -
the third, fourth, or fifth pitch in a pitcher's arsenal of pitches.
- The Trainer is portable and weatherproof.
- The Trainer is durable; it can receive towel
strikes from pitchers who throw up to 100 mph.
- The Trainer requires no assembly.
- The Trainer is user friendly -- comes with written instructions; workouts can also be self-designed by incorporating standard protocol with your own creative style.
