Moms “Making the decision to
have a child-its momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go
walking around outside your body.” --Elizabeth Stone This page is dedicated to mothers who support their sons who play baseball. In time and through education and understanding, I believe that mothers can help transform the experience our sons have in baseball. I also believe through educating ourselves about the sport our sons love, we as mothers can bridge the gap that so often widens between us as our sons grow older. Diamond Mothers, an affiliate of Legit Sports Inc www.legitsportsinc.com, is dedicated to the education and support of mothers of baseball players everywhere. It is the intention of Diamond Mothers to help women learn the rules, spoken and unspoken, on and off the baseball diamond. This website will offer helpful and thoughtful articles and information that will assist you, the mom, as you wade through the male-dominated sport of baseball. If you have questions you would like addressed, please send them to info@legitsportsinc.com If we do not have the answer we will direct you to a source that does. We are pleased to announce the release of Diamond Moms, A Mother’s Guide to Raising a Baseball Player. My book is a compilation of information accumulated by me over the past fifteen years. Our son, currently a collegiate baseball player, began playing baseball at the age of five. After his second year of college I realized that others might benefit from our experience. While much of the information I wanted to share is helpful for both moms and dads, I felt it was important to give voice to my experience as a woman. I cover not only the nuts and bolts of the sport (everything from shopping lists to explaining the game) but I also share my personal evolution through the years of watching our son grow and mature. It is my intention and hope that by offering insight and guidance on the challenges that come with motherhood and baseball, I will help all mothers feel more comfortable about getting involved in their son’s baseball experience. I was fortunate to have the support of some very remarkable people and would like to take the opportunity to thank them. Tom House, former pitcher and now coach to professional baseball players; Tony Gwynn, former Padre and currently head baseball coach for San Diego State University; retired head baseball coaches from two California universities; active baseball coaches from high schools and colleges; sports psychologists, and yes, moms and…even a few dads! If you have questions regarding your son’s baseball experience please email me at candace@legitsportsinc.com with the subject line: Diamond Moms. I will be happy to respond to your concerns. For the love of game and to theDiamond Moms everywhere, salute!
